Job Brief

ALTER UK is seeking a Procurement Specialist to strengthen the supply chain within the semiconductor packaging domain, drive cost savings, and elevate supplier management across the company. This role focuses on boosting purchasing efficiency, reducing risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and improving overall profitability through strategic sourcing, expert negotiation, and thoughtful supplier selection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with existing and future suppliers
  • Negotiate terms with suppliers such as price, quality of goods, deadlines, expectations, etc.
  • Liaise with suppliers and colleagues regarding updates and delivery dates of goods
  • Identify opportunities to achieve best value for money across procurement activities, including reviewing total spend with suppliers, negotiating annual and volume‑based discounts, and driving overall cost savings
  • Create purchase orders and agree these with supply requests and orders
  • Oversee stock levels to prevent shortages and maintain required minimum stock levels and ensure future supply needs are proactively met
  • Monitor supplier performance
  • Work closely with colleagues in all departments to understand details of procurement requirements and provide timely feedback to management
  • Provide and apply knowledge of Incoterms
  • Ensure adherence to KPIs and continuous improvement practices

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience. A technical background would be preferred.
  • IT literate. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is essential – in particular Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take the initiative.
  • Exceptional attention to detail paired with strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi‑task.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems.

Location

Based in our Livingston, UK office with the opportunity for travel in the UK and Europe. This role is 40 hours per week.
