Leeds City College are seeking a Teacher of Teaching Assistant Courses to join our Childcare and Teaching Assistant Team!

This post is to deliver teaching assistant courses, from entry level to level 3; other teaching may be required in mentoring/coaching. Knowledge and experience of SEND is desirable.

The Childcare and Teaching Assistant team deliver part time adult 19+ programmes across Leeds City College campuses and outreach centres. We deliver a range of qualifications from entry level to level 3 in early years, childcare, teaching assistants, health and social care and special educational needs.

The team is based predominantly at Deacon House, but includes smaller provision at Enfield, College House, and online. Our Adult provision was graded Outstanding by Ofsted in May 2022 and again in 2025. We teach Monday to Thursday from 09:30 to 21:00 and Fridays from 09:30 to 15:00.

The role is intended to be full-time, although part-time and term-time-only working arrangements will be considered for the successful applicant

What You Will Do

  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
  • Develop the essential knowledge and understanding to teach learners.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course.
  • Monitor students to achieve their targets and develop their skills to enable progression.

About You

  • You should hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, Delta). Successful applicants can be supported to complete a L5 Teaching Qualification with the college with department financial support.
  • You should have a relevant degree in childcare, education orhealth and social care or similar.
  • Ability to plan and deliver quality teaching across identified modules.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their optimum.
