Job Description
We are seeking a Lead Automation Engineer responsible for leading software and automation projects within industrial control systems. The role involves developing, maintaining, and delivering PLC and SCADA applications while ensuring high-quality engineering practices, compliance with project requirements, and effective collaboration with global engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of software and automation projects within control system engineering environments.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC and SCADA applications, including creating functions from scratch, managing source control, and ensuring code quality through industry best practices.
- Monitor and report project progress, resource status, and provide technical input for project planning activities.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure engineering deliverables meet contract specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Take ownership of key control system engineering deliverables, including:
- System Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
- Software Requirements Specifications (SRS)
- Software Design Documents
- System testing procedures
- Prepare and review project requirements, design specifications, software product requirements, and interface specifications.
- Develop and review test requirements for software applications in line with defined engineering standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of automation engineering experience with strong expertise in PLC and HMI/SCADA technologies.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming and SCADA systems (experience with TwinCAT Soft PLC and Ignition SCADA is preferred).
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including:
- Modbus TCP
- CAN
- Ethernet UDP
- OPC UA
- Understanding of object-oriented design methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, engineering processes, and quality improvement practices.
- Experience using analytical tools to support product and solution development.
- Proven experience delivering automation/software projects at small to medium scale.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with global teams and share technical knowledge.
- Willingness to travel and work at project sites as required.
