We’re seeking talented and motivated Work Group Leader – Energy (Shifts) to join our innovative team at Shotton Mill. What you’ll do:
- Responsible for their Energy shift team’s health and safety, environmental, technical, operational, and HR related issues.
- Responsible for their shift team’s operational performance, ensuring that output, technical specifications and quality standards are maintained to agreed standards as outlined.
- Support in leading the shift team as a Role Model and Change Agent instilling and developing the EREN culture for Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Leading, coaching and mentoring their shift team in Continuous Improvement methodology and implementation practices.
- Accountable for ensuring their shift team understands, follows and adheres to the performance KPI’s and Continuous Improvement targets in place, allowing them to achieved by all.
- Responsible for reporting the KPI’s at the end of each shift with an accurate log of any deviations
- Responsible for accurate handovers (including filling out the shift log/diary) between shifts for themselves and their shift team
- Be a technical expert within the energy team with a good understanding of the water treatment systems, biomass boiler, woodyard, gas CHP and steam systems to enable technical troubleshooting assistance to their shift team
- Leading their shift team through emissions compliance ensuring The plant operates with the environmental permit
- Accountable for the effective shift leadership across their shift, ensuring that the appropriate behaviors aligned to Shotton Mill’s values and culture, are modelled and embedded.
- Accountable for cultivating a dynamic operational environment ensuring that the shift team performs to the highest standards at all times.
- Accountable for the shift and their adherence to company policies and procedures is understood and followed at all times.
- Involved with the implementation and control of the new permit system currently under development within the energy department.
- Ability to carry out risk assessments, update SOPs etc.
- Responsible for ensuring their team report accurately and in a timely manner all near misses, incidents and accidents.
- Responsible for ensuring good housekeeping and 5S practices are maintained within their shift
- Ability to step into the Control Room Operator position to allow them to attend meetings etc. as required.
- Responsible for coordination with other work group leaders between departments to ensure the internal customer requirements for quality and production are met.
- Coordination of solid fuel availability with the woodyard management during the shift.
- Responsible for coordination with the site shift manager for mechanical and electrical support during the shift if required on breakdowns or with operational issues.
- Responsible for carrying out internal audits within the energy department.
- Willing to undergo continuous professional development to enhance effectiveness within the role.
- Ability to cover for other Work Group Leaders during periods of absence will be required
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience of a technical role within an energy/utilities or manufacturing environment is essential
- Previous experience working as a leader of people within a manufacturing environment or ideally within an energy sector/department.
- Leadership qualification desirable but full training will be given if successful in role.
- Ability to communicate clearly, persuasively and network at all levels.
- Highly motivated, agile, results driven with the ability to problem solve are essential.
- Previous experience/understanding of World Class Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies would be advantageous.
- Ability to work under pressure, with a logical, systematic manner.
- Leadership skills with a strong emphasis on coaching and mentoring a team is essential.
- Experience of working in a 24/7 continuous manufacturing environment.
