We’re looking for an Electronics Prototype Technician to join an innovative engineering team developing cutting-edge technology products.
This is a hands-on R&D-focused role where you’ll support new product development through electronics build, testing, debugging, and prototype refinement. You’ll play a key part in turning early-stage designs into working, testable hardware within a fast-paced engineering environment.
You’ll work closely with design engineers and be a key part of the lab team, ensuring prototypes are built, tested, and iterated to a high standard.
What you’ll be doing
- Build, assemble, modify, and rework electronic prototypes and PCBs
- Perform fault finding, debugging, testing, and repair of electronic assemblies
- Carry out precision soldering, including fine-pitch SMT and component rework
- Work with BGA and complex surface-mount components
- Manufacture custom cable assemblies and wiring looms
- Operate lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, microscopes, and diagnostic tools
- Support prototype development activities alongside design engineers
- Execute test procedures and accurately record results and observations
- Manage lab organisation, consumables, and equipment upkeep
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient engineering laboratory environment
What we’re looking for,
- Strong experience in an electronics lab, prototype, or R&D environment
- Confident in electronics fault finding, testing, and rework
- Excellent soldering skills (SMT, fine-pitch, and component-level rework)
- Experience working with complex assemblies including BGA components
- Comfortable using standard electronics lab and workshop tools
- Experience supporting prototype builds and engineering development
