Bennett & Game are pleased to be representing a leading UK scaffolding and access contractor based in Wednesbury, who are seeking a Business Development Manager to join their growing team.
This position would suit a confident and commercially minded sales professional who is comfortable generating new business, developing client relationships and identifying opportunities across the construction sector. Previous scaffolding experience is not essential, as full training can be provided on the company’s services, pricing and estimating processes.
The successful Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth by targeting prospective clients, following up leads and developing relationships with contractors, developers and other construction professionals. They will attend meetings and site visits, manage key accounts and work closely with the estimating and operational teams to produce competitive quotations for scaffolding projects.
Business Development Manager Job Overview
- Identify and generate new business opportunities through outbound calls, networking, client meetings and proactive sales activity
- Develop and implement business development strategies to support company growth and revenue targets
- Research prospective clients, projects and market opportunities across the construction sector
- Follow up warm leads and convert enquiries into live opportunities
- Contact existing and prospective clients to discuss upcoming projects and scaffolding requirements

- Negotiate commercial terms and support the conversion of quotations into secured projects
- Maintain accurate records of leads, enquiries, quotations and follow-up activity
- Monitor sales activity, pipeline progress and conversion rates
- Represent the business professionally and promote its services across target markets
Business Development Manager Job Requirements
- Previous experience within sales, business development, account management or a client-facing commercial role
- Proven ability to generate new enquiries through outbound calls and proactive sales activity
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills both over the phone and face-to-face
- Commercially minded with the ability to identify opportunities and develop profitable client relationships
- Comfortable attending meetings, networking events and representing the business professionally
- Target-driven with a strong focus on revenue growth and securing new business
- Experience managing existing accounts and developing repeat business
- Motivated to learn scaffolding pricing and estimating processes
- Experience within scaffolding, access, temporary works, construction or engineering would be advantageous but is not essential
- Estimating, quotation or pricing experience would be beneficial, although full training can be provided
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple enquiries, accounts and follow-up actions
- Full UK driving licence
