Hays are recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Customs Support Assistant to join our client on an ongoing long term temporary assignment for an approximate duration of 12 months.

Location: Oxford

Assignment type: Temporary, ongoing basis where you will be engaged via Hays

Working environment: Hybrid 3 days on site 2 days remote

Hours per week: 37

Pay type: Competitive hourly pay rate

Your new role –

  • Support customs analyst to secure plant & customer supply, optimise duty liability and minimise risk by adhering to adequate rules and regulations if decisions have been made.
  • Follow working instruction to ensure that taxable base values are lawfully determined following legal, company in house and manager’s guidelines in order to avoid administrative offences and criminal proceedings.
  • Ensure that customs and tax declarations are submitted to the relevant authorities in a lawful and timely manner as advised by manager.
  • Submitting import and export declarations according to customs and foreign trade laws.
  • Prepare month end declarations in time.
  • Support customs analyst in steering of external service providers and ensuring the quality of services with their area of responsibility.
  • Follow working instructions in daily operations (submit declarations, meeting deadlines, appeal processes, duty & VAT payment).

What you’ll need to succeed –

  • The successful candidate will be accountable and have the ability to adapt
  • Several years’ experience of administration in a commercial setting, automotive industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrating experience in office applications
  • Cross-cultural experience and appreciation
  • Capacity for team-work and tactful assertiveness
  • Well organised
  • Methodical and analytical skills
  • Resilience and stress tolerant
