About the role

You will teach aspects of digital systems, microelectronics (including integrated circuit design) and embedded systems design in both lectures and computational classes, across all years of our undergraduate degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering, with more specialised units in Advanced Microelectronics and Embedded Systems in the final years, maintaining the University’s high standards in teaching and learning, and its inclusive and supportive learning environment.

You will develop an internationally leading independent research programme in microelectronics and embedded systems design.

Your research should be aligned with one of the following research centres from the Faculty of Engineering and Design, Institute for the Augmented Human (IAH), Centre for Digital, Manufacturing & Design (The Foundry), Centre for Bioengineering & Biomedical Technologies (CBio).

You will be supported to contribute at an appropriate level to the administration, leadership, and management of the Department’s activities.

About you

  • Integrated circuit design of CMOS circuits including circuit design, simulation, layout and application of deep submicron technologies
  • Embedded systems design and algorithms for embedded software systems.
  • Design of micro-electro-mechanical systems including sensors, amplifiers, mixed signal circuits, data converters, filters and digital to analog conversion.
  • Digital Design including programmable devices (FPGAs and CPLDs) and processor design.
  • Application and skills in electronic design automation software for circuit design, integrated circuits, simulation, hardware description languages, synthesis, layout and process flows.

You should hold a PhD in Electronic & Electrical Engineering (or a closely related subject) and be able to demonstrate the potential to develop an internationally leading research programme, to acquire significant funding from UK and international sources, and to produce high quality publications.
