The Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club is an independent 32-bedroom hotel set in the Warwickshire countryside, offering a unique destination for leisure, business, golf, weddings, dining and wellness. Home to our award-winning wedding venue, The Meadow Barn, an 18-hole golf course, Toptracer driving range, restaurant, bar, events spaces and boutique reformer Pilates studio, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional hospitality with a personal touch.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced, hands-on Deputy General Manager to support the General Manager in leading the day-to-day operation of the hotel and driving exceptional guest experiences across the estate.
The Role
This is a varied and rewarding leadership position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
The Deputy General Manager will oversee the daily operation of the hotel, ensuring each department consistently delivers exceptional service while maintaining high operational standards, profitability and team engagement.
You will act as the General Manager’s second-in-command, taking responsibility for the operation in their absence and supporting the continued growth of the business.
This is not a desk-based management role. We are looking for someone who enjoys being visible, supporting teams on the floor, engaging with guests and leading by example.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day management of the hotel and wider estate.
- Take responsibility for the business in the absence of the General Manager.
- Ensure smooth operation across:
- Reception
- Housekeeping
- Food & Beverage
- Weddings & Events
- Golf Operations
- Maintenance
- Conduct regular operational walkthroughs ensuring exceptional presentation throughout the property.
- Drive consistently high guest satisfaction scores.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate and inspire department managers and their teams.
- Coach and develop future leaders within the business.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and staff training.
- Foster a positive, professional and supportive working culture.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed.
Guest Experience
- Be highly visible throughout the business.
- Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally.
- Build relationships with returning guests and members.
- Ensure every guest receives warm, personal and memorable service.
Financial Performance
- Support the General Manager in achieving revenue and profit targets.
- Monitor labour costs and departmental productivity.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce unnecessary costs.
- Assist with forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting.
- Support departmental managers in achieving KPIs.
Weddings & Events
- Ensure seamless delivery of weddings, conferences and private events.
- Support operational planning for busy event days.
- Maintain excellent communication between departments to ensure smooth execution.
Food & Beverage
- Work alongside the Restaurant & Bar Manager to continually improve guest experience.
- Monitor service standards and food quality.
- Support development of promotions and seasonal offerings.
Golf & Leisure
- Support the golf team in delivering exceptional member and visitor experiences.
- Assist with operational planning for competitions and golf events.
- Help promote the club as a leading golf destination.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation.
- Support food hygiene, fire safety and licensing requirements.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
- Promote a safe working environment for guests and employees.
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and enjoys developing people as much as delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Essential
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior hotel management role.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience managing multiple departments.
- Excellent commercial awareness.
- Strong financial understanding including labour control and budgets.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving ability.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience within weddings and events.
- Experience within golf or leisure hospitality.
- Personal Licence Holder.
- IOSH or Health & Safety qualification.
- First Aid qualification.
