What You’ll Be Doing
- Produce structural and mechanical designs for utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects, ensuring compliance with UK and international standards.
- Perform structural calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for mounting systems, steel structures, trackers, and mechanical components.
- Analyse and optimise structures under various loading conditions (wind, dead, thermal, fatigue, and dynamic effects).
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, and design documentation.
- Develop and review 2D/3D CAD models and technical drawings.
- Assess and evaluate mounting system suppliers, structural components, and external engineering designs and documentation.
- Review project technical data (e.g. geotechnical reports, pull-out tests, flood risk assessments, surveys) and validate foundation and pile designs.
- Collaborate with procurement, internal engineering teams, and external stakeholders including clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Support standardisation and optimisation of structural solutions across projects.
- Provide technical support through manufacturing, FAT, construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Ensure quality and compliance during fabrication, installation, and delivery, working closely with quality teams.
- Contribute to technical discussions and represent the company professionally.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods.
- HNC/HND minimum qualification; BSc/BEng/MEng in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent preferred.
- Good understanding of Eurocodes and relevant international structural design standards.
- Experience in steel structure design and structural optimisation.
- Understanding of structural dynamics, fatigue, and vibration behaviour of steel structures under cyclic wind loading.
- Structural analysis and calculation software knowledge would be an advantage
