Workstream Lead – TUPE & Industrial Relations
Hybrid 12mth FTC or interim assignment
National – travel to Northwest / Midlands & London
A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR leader to join a major UK organisation undergoing a significant business transformation programme.
Working directly with the Chief Human Resources Officer, this high-profile appointment will lead the people workstream for a complex acquisition involving the transfer of several hundred employees across multiple phases. The role will focus on the design, governance and delivery of a highly sensitive TUPE programme, whilst establishing a fit-for-purpose industrial relations framework to support the future organisation.
This is not a traditional integration role. Instead, the emphasis is on the front-end planning, architecture and execution of the transfer process, ensuring a thoughtful, commercially sound and employee-focused approach throughout.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the people workstream for a complex multi-phase TUPE transfer.
- Design and deliver information and consultation processes across unionised and non-unionised employee groups.
- Build and implement an industrial relations framework within an organisation with no existing IR infrastructure.
- Provide strategic and operational guidance on employee relations, workforce planning and organisational design.
- Partner with senior business leaders, programme stakeholders and external parties to ensure successful delivery.
- Represent HR and people risk at Steering Committee level.
- Build trusted relationships with employee representatives and trade unions to support a positive transfer experience.
- Drive governance, reporting and risk management across the programme.
About You
- We’re seeking a senior HR professional who combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery capability.
- You will bring:
- Significant TUPE expertise, including leading complex transfers and consultation processes.
- Strong industrial relations experience, ideally including union engagement and framework development.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, business transformation or organisational change programmes.
- Broad HR generalist capability spanning employee relations, organisational design and workforce planning.
- The gravitas to operate confidently with Executive stakeholders, Programme Directors and external partners.
- A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and sensitive stakeholder environments.
What’s on Offer
- 12-month assignment (FTC or Interim)
- FTC package circa £120,000 + bonus
- Interim day rate circa £750–£850 per day (Inside IR35)
- High-profile programme with direct exposure to Executive leadership
- Opportunity to shape a critical people agenda during a transformative period
This assignment would suit an experienced HR leader, HR Transformation professional, Employee Relations specialist or HR Programme Lead with deep expertise in TUPE, industrial relations and organisational change.
