Climate Adaptation Coordinator – Pontypridd, Wales

Salary: 27,500

Fixed term contract to 31st March 2027

The Role

Coordinate and support climate adaptation working groups including the Welsh Government Climate Change Adaptation Working Group (WGCCAWG) and the Core Valley Lines Climate Change Adaptation Working Group (CVLCCAWG) and activities by providing effective governance, collaboration, and risk assessment support, to strengthen Transport for Wales’s (TfW) understanding and management of climate-related risks and resilience

Role responsibilities

  • Provide secretariat support to climate adaptation working groups by including coordinating meetings, preparing agendas and papers, taking minutes, and tracking actions to ensure effective delivery.
  • Support engagement with Welsh Government and other external stakeholders by coordinating information requests, preparing materials, and maintaining effective communication to ensure funding obligations are met and stakeholder relationships are maintained.
  • Assist with the delivery of climate change risk assessments by gathering data, arranging and supporting on site visits, supporting analysis, and coordinating input from internal teams and external partners to ensure that assessments are completed efficiently and informed by appropriate evidence and expertise.
  • Support the Climate Adaptation and Resilience Lead in delivering adaptation activities and priorities across TfW by progressing key workstreams and aligning with organisational objectives.

Who we’re looking for

  • Qualification in Geography, Environmental Risk/Engineering, Climate Change at minimum A Level (or equivalent) or equivalent working experience.
  • Knowledge of Climate Change/Environmental legislation in Wales and UK and a keen interest in climate change, sustainability or environmental issues.
  • Experience providing secretariat or administrative support to meetings or working groups.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and have experience working with external stakeholders or public sector partners.

Welsh Language Skills

While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application.
