Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services (www.protecnium.com/en). We are currently looking for an Assistant Surveyor to join our team for a major tunnel infrastructure project in the United Kingdom (on-site position).

Project

Tunnel Infrastructure and Underground Works

Estimated duration of the position

Until December with continuation works afterwards. In general, when the project ends, we try to place the candidate in other projects to give him/her continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with surveying and setting out activities inside the tunnel.
  • Handle, transport, and maintain surveying equipment, including total stations, levels, scanners, and related instruments.
  • Set up and maintain survey control points and reference markers.
  • Assist in collecting, recording, and organizing field survey data and documentation.
  • Support the surveying team with daily site logistics and operational requirements.
  • Ensure survey equipment is properly prepared and available for daily activities.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate survey records and site documentation.
  • Follow project safety procedures and support safe working practices in underground environments.
  • Collaborate with surveyors and construction teams to ensure accurate execution of works.

Requirements

  • Technical qualification in Surveying.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in underground works, tunnel, rail, or similar projects.
  • Previous experience in surveying or underground works.
  • CSCS card.
  • Work permit or right to work in the UK.
  • Willing to commute or relocate to South London.

Working Hours

  • During the tunnelling phase: 12‑hour rotating shifts following a 7 days on / 3 days off and 7 days on / 4 days off schedule (day and night shifts).
  • After the tunnelling phase: Monday to Friday, 10‑hour working days (day or night shift, depending on project requirements).
