Operating across medical promotional communication, you will take full ownership of our copy department, balancing high-caliber creative output with operational excellence.

You will be a vital pillar of our department, responsible for resource allocation, workflow optimization, and the commercial efficiency of our content deliverables. You will lead by example to ensure the absolute quality and scientific integrity of our copy, while actively mentoring, nurturing, and developing our medical copywriting talent.

Core Responsibilities

  • Elevate the Science: Transform complex scientific clinical data into clear, persuasive, and compliant creative storytelling.
  • Champion the Standards: Set and maintain the highest benchmarks for copywriting, tone of voice, and clinical accuracy across all brand outputs. Act as the ultimate quality-control gatekeeper for the team.
  • Architect of Operations: Take full ownership of the copywriting team’s capacity, resourcing, and scheduling. Manage utilization, balance workloads, and oversee freelance and external writing support to maximize department efficiency.
  • Empower & Mentor: Line-manage, nurture, and structurally develop our medical copywriting talent and foster a collaborative, growth-oriented culture.
  • Embrace the Future: Drive the evolution of content generation, embracing modular content, AI tools, and structured workflows to balance creative impact with commercial production efficiency.
  • Navigate Commerce: Ensure all content deliverables align with commercial forecasts and remain realistic to client budgets.
  • Lead with Authority: Serve as the operational head of the copywriting function, collaborating closely with Client Services, Creative and Strategy Leads to ensure seamless project delivery.

What You Bring

  • Proven Copy Leadership: Extensive experience managing, mentoring, and structurally leading a copywriting team within a fast-paced healthcare communications agency setting.
  • Operational & Resource Acumen: Proven track record of managing department resources, capacity planning, and freelance budgets, with a passion for operational efficiency.
  • Scientific & Creative Balance: A deep understanding of medical copy standards with the ability to recognize, nurture, and guide high-quality creative output.
  • Regulatory Mastery: Expert navigating of pharmaceutical regulatory environments (e.g., ABPI or equivalent local codes)
  • Collaborative Mindset: Highly collaborative leader who thrives working alongside other senior creative specialists to bring ideas to life.
