Team Leader – Ecology
Are you an experienced ecologist with a passion for leadership, mentoring, and delivering high-quality environmental solutions?
Our client is seeking a Team Leader to join their growing Ecology team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a talented group of specialists, including experts in ornithology, terrestrial ecology, Biodiversity Net Gain, and aquatic and marine ecology. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will partner with professionals across natural capital, arboriculture, landscape architecture, hydrology, geotechnics, and the historic environment.
The Role
You will play a key role in developing and supporting your team while ensuring the successful delivery of projects. Responsibilities include
- Leading and mentoring ecology professionals, supporting career development, wellbeing, and technical excellence
- Planning team workload and resources alongside senior leadership
- Preparing and contributing to commercial and technical tenders
- Building strong relationships with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders
- Supporting business growth and raising the profile of the ecology team across the region
- Fostering a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture
- Managing and delivering ecological projects from inception through to completion
About You
- A relevant degree in ecology, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or a desire to progress membership with support available.
- Proven experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong ecological consultancy experience, including survey design, mitigation strategies, stakeholder engagement, and on-site implementation.
- Experience delivering Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and contributing to EIA reports.
- A track record of developing client relationships and winning work across a range of sectors.
