Role Description
This is a full‑time hybrid role for a Fire & Security Engineer, based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with some work from home flexibility. The Fire & Security Engineer will install, commission, test, and maintain fire alarm, life safety, and security systems in line with relevant standards, regulations, and company procedures. Daily responsibilities include conducting site surveys, fault‑finding, performing planned and reactive maintenance, and completing accurate documentation, reports, and certifications. The role involves configuring and integrating systems such as fire detection, AOV, CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, and monitoring solutions, while collaborating with project managers, coordinators, and other engineers to deliver projects on time. The engineer will also provide clear guidance to customers on system use, ensure adherence to health and safety requirements, participate in an out‑of‑hours rota where required, and identify opportunities for system improvements or upgrades.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Security Engineering, with practical experience implementing and maintaining safety‑critical systems in commercial or industrial environments.
- Understanding of Application Security considerations when working with networked fire and security systems, control software, and configuration tools.
- Knowledge of Network Security principles relevant to IP‑based CCTV, access control, and monitoring systems, including secure configuration of networked devices.
- Awareness of broader Cybersecurity and Information Security practices, including data protection, secure handling of customer information, and adherence to company security policies.
- Hands‑on experience with fire alarm systems, aspirating detection, AOV, emergency voice communication, and related life safety technologies; relevant manufacturer training is an advantage.
- Experience with electronic security systems such as CCTV, access control, intruder detection, and integrated security platforms.
- Familiarity with applicable UK standards and regulations (e.g., BS 5839, BS 6266, NSI / BAFE requirements) and a strong commitment to compliance and safe working practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
