Overview
We are looking to appoint electrical project surveyors to join our Planned Maintenance service, working predominantly within the Mechanical & Electrical team. The role is full‑time and permanent, with a 37‑hour schedule Monday to Friday 8.00‑16.00.
What you will be doing
Take responsibility for surveying domestic and commercial properties, working alongside the project engineer to develop work packages for contractor delivery.
Oversee the contractor’s day‑to‑day activities, working collaboratively with contractors and BCC staff to ensure projects are delivered effectively, supporting and guiding them to maintain safe, high‑quality maintenance programmes across the City Council’s housing stock.
Assist in monitoring contracts to ensure consistent high standards and best value for money for BCC and its residents, and supervise day‑to‑day activities of external contractors in line with Health and Safety, CDM regulations.
Communicate new technologies and support BCC’s target of reducing carbon output by 2030 to residents, staff and contractors.
Qualifications and experience
- Experience and/or qualifications in the electrical industry, including a Level 3 engineering qualification recommended.
- Practical experience in running construction projects.
- Strong initiative to introduce innovations and continually improve services.
- Understanding of project management, especially in supervising contractors.
