Job Description:

The Electrical Shift Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems and machinery within the industrial and manufacturing environment. This role in Bristol requires technical expertise to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting including fault finding and diagnostics, equipment repair, and getting equipment running efficiently.
  • Carry out planned maintenance schedules within the given timescale.
  • Record all work carried out and any further action required, together with identifying any future spares requirements.
  • Machine repair to assembly level – undertake workshop repair of machine components, be conversant with circuit diagrams and the use of hand/machine tools, and be able to use diagnostic and test instrumentation.
  • Identify needs for continuous improvement, including design and manufacture from drawing board to installation.
  • Support the site’s sustainability drive by identifying energy‑saving ideas and reporting or implementing them.
  • Input information into the computerised maintenance system, recording all tasks and stores movements, and keep all machine drawings up to date noting modifications.
  • Have basic knowledge of quality standards, data integrity, and the importance of maintaining product integrity.
  • Strictly adhere to the organisation’s hygiene rules, understand the importance of personal hygiene, and wear appropriate protective gear to avoid compromising product quality.

Qualifications

  • You are an experienced Electrical Shift Engineer, ideally with a manufacturing background.
  • Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills with electrical systems.
  • Fault‑finding experience with PLC systems, preferably Siemens.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in engineering.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
