Main duties and responsibilities

Faculty

You will be joining the Division of Education, which sits within the School of Applied Social Sciences, within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. We are a dedicated and experienced team who teach across a range of education focused programmes undergraduate programmes and apprenticeships to postgraduate programmes and doctoral supervision.

Role

We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to teach across our newly validated Early Years Education with SEND and SLCN foundation programme, and Level 6 Top-Up in Early Years Education with SEND and SLCN. These programmes will follow a hybrid delivery; on campus and synchronously online, and will be delivered between 4.00-8.00pm two days per week. This role will also include administrative duties associated with teaching, as well as supporting students academically and pastorally. An ability to contribute positively to the Division and School research profile is also desirable.

Ideal candidate

You will have an undergraduate degree and Level 7 qualification in Education or discipline /curriculum related subject, and a full and relevant qualification, as defined by the Department for Education. A postgraduate degree in education is desirable, as is teaching experience within a higher education institution or allied field.

You will have proven experience of successful and supportive teaching in early years (0-8years) education, that includes supporting learners with lived experiences of SEND/SLCN. You will also have proven experience in undertaking formative and summative observations of practice within early years settings.

You be able to demonstrate your experience of providing appropriate pastoral care and support to students from diverse backgrounds and with differing levels of need. You will be able to work collaboratively, in designing materials and delivering sessions, using an evidence-based approach to practice.
