2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer / Analyst – £40k + benefits
Technologies: Networking, Switches, NetApp, Cisco UCS, Firewalls, VMWare, Hyper-V, SAN, Storage, Cloud
We are looking for an experienced infrastructure professional with a strong background in networking, storage and virtualization. Candidates should be customer focused, proactive, and eager to work with emerging technologies including cloud.
About the role: Office based in Manchester, part of a small team. You will handle complex technical escalations, provide root-cause analysis, and deliver solutions across LAN/WAN, VMWare/Hyper-V, NetApp, UCS, firewalls and related services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support multi-site technical environments (LAN, WAN, Microsoft, VMWare, Networking, SAN)
- Own escalated issues as 3rd-line support and resolve queries within SLA
- Resolve configuration & deployment issues, manage core IT infrastructure operations through monitoring and maintenance
- Ensure 3rd-party applications run efficiently across all platforms, provide root-cause analysis to any problems
- Maintain good working relationships with colleagues, other departmental members and suppliers
- Perform on-call support as required (with allowance and overtime)
Essential Technical Skills:
- Network Security technologies (proxy, content filtering, IPS/IDS)
- VMware / Hyper-V – solid understanding
- SAN (any version) – preference for NetApp
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, switches, routers, wireless)
- Backup software – Veeam preferred
- Storage replication and multi-site deployments
