Commercial Solicitor

Commercial Solicitor – Softcat Legal Team. Join our in‑house legal group based in Manchester while working closely with colleagues across all Softcat offices. The role focuses on commercial law with a strong emphasis on customer and supplier contracts, data protection and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate customer contracts based on amendments to our standard terms or customer terms and conditions
• Review and negotiate supplier and distributor contracts
• Create bespoke contracts where required (e.g., referral agreements)
• Advise on AOR and other credit arrangements
• Deliver contract and mandatory regulatory training to account managers and the supplier/partner management team
• Provide ad‑hoc legal advice, such as trademark queries and contract termination advice
• Support members of the team in their contractual and commercial matters
• Support the development of precedents and process improvements

Qualifications

• Solicitor qualified in England and Wales with 0–2 PQE
• Experience drafting, preparing, reviewing and amending commercial contracts and conducting negotiations
• Experience advising on data protection provisions, including data processing and sharing agreements
• Sound technical understanding of contract and tort law
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Confidence to work independently with limited supervision and to manage pressure
• Enthusiasm for the role and commitment to continuous professional development
• In‑house experience (employment or secondment) or demonstrable understanding of the challenges faced by in‑house lawyers
