Job Description:

Quality Engineer (Design Controls & Product Development)

Cambridge | Hybrid

Salary expected to be in the region of £50,000. The business recognises that candidates with significant Design Quality and Medical Device experience may command a higher salary and is open to discussion for the right individual.

Are you a Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, influencing product development and ensuring great ideas become robust, compliant products?

An innovative medical device company developing complex electro-mechanical technology is looking to appoint a Quality Engineer to work closely with engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.

This is not a traditional quality role focused purely on audits and compliance.

Instead, you’ll play a key role in supporting the development of new products and product changes, helping engineering teams make informed decisions through effective design controls, risk management and verification activities.

Key responsibilities

• Working with engineering teams to ensure verification, validation and design review activities are robust and consistent

• Supporting product development projects through the application of Design Controls

• Reviewing test methods, verification protocols and validation activities

• Supporting design changes and ensuring quality considerations are incorporated throughout the process

• Participating in risk management activities and helping identify potential product and process risks

• Challenging assumptions and driving evidence based decision making

• Working with suppliers and supporting supplier audit activities

• Supporting CAPA, problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives

• Coaching colleagues on quality processes and best practice where required

About you

We’re particularly interested in people who understand how products are designed, tested, verified and improved.

You may currently be working as a:

• Mechanical Engineer

• Mechatronics Engineer

• Design Quality Engineer

• Development Engineer

• Product Quality Engineer

• NPI Engineer

Experience within medical devices, 13485, 60601, would be advantageous, although candidates from other highly regulated engineering sectors will also be considered.

Why apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business developing genuinely innovative technology while gaining exposure to design quality, product development, supplier quality and risk management within a highly regulated environment.

The role is expected to be based in the Cambridge office 3 days per week initially to support onboarding, collaboration and integration with the wider team. Greater flexibility may be available over time once established in the role.
