Job Title: Registered Manager – Residential Childcare
Location: Weston Super-Mare
Salary: £47,750 – £54,000 (Including Bonuses)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager to join a leading specialist provider of residential care for vulnerable children. The Registered Manager will lead, support, and develop a team committed to providing outstanding care for children aged between 8 and 18. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on young lives within a nurturing, structured, and safe environment. The Registered Manager will work closely with the team to ensure high standards of care, compliance with regulations, and continuous improvement of the home.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Home in the day-to-day running of the residential home, ensuring a high standard of care.
- Lead and motivate staff to deliver outstanding support to children with challenging behaviours.
- Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with children, promoting their education, health, and wellbeing.
- Manage safeguarding and health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and incident reporting.
- Support staff development through supervision, training, and mentoring, fostering a professional and motivated team.
- Assist in the recruitment, induction, and performance management of staff members.
- Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, and the home’s Statement of Purpose.
- Support the organisation and management of rotas, budgets, and resources to ensure smooth operation.
- Act as a point of contact during on-call duties, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, ensuring the home’s safety and compliance.
- Support with inspections, audits, and quality assurance processes to maintain a ‘Good’ or above Ofsted rating.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Proven experience working within children’s residential care, ideally in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of current legislation, Children’s Homes Regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism and integrity.
- Competent computer skills and the ability to manage documentation accurately.
- Flexibility to work sleep‑in duties, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
