About the Role

Job Purpose: Lead and direct a team in developing and delivering person‑centred services while managing resources to meet service‑user and contract outcomes. Develop staff skills, apply person‑centred planning, embed a quality assurance framework, and ensure positive relationships with service users to support their individual outcomes.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Follow person‑centred principles in all areas of operation.
  • Assess, plan, monitor, and review individual support.
  • Ensure appropriate information is captured, reported, and analysed.
  • Lead and manage staff to achieve high performance and standards.
  • Use staff strengths effectively and manage recruitment, deployment and training.
  • Seek and maintain excellent relationships with other professionals and the community.
  • Provide coaching, supervision and appraisal to staff.
  • Organise and facilitate productive team meetings and promote good practice.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy, procedure and legislation.
  • Maintain quality standards of service delivery and evidence quality output.
  • Resolve internal and external incident reporting.
  • Assist the Area Manager with resource management.

Essential Criteria

Experience

  • Significant experience of person‑centred planning and review.
  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs.
  • Experience of people management, including staff supervision and appraisal.
  • Experience of partnership working and managing resources within budget.
  • Experience using IT systems for service and people management.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of equality and anti‑discriminatory practices.
  • Excellent time‑management and prioritisation for a complex workload.
  • Ability to inspire and drive person‑centred principles and practices.
  • Strong assessment, planning, and monitoring of care and support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of the needs of people with mental health or learning disabilities and current best practice.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency with person‑centred tools and ICT for information, performance reporting and communication.
  • Initiative, self‑motivation, and resourcefulness.
  • Effective resource management.

Qualifications & Training

  • NVQ3 (or equivalent) in management or care, or willingness to complete within a defined period.
  • Training in person‑centred practices (planning, review, team development).

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, on call, and 7 days a week including unsocial hours.
