Principal to Associate Buildings Structural Engineer

We invite a Principal to Associate Structural Engineer to lead structural engineering projects in the UK residential and commercial sectors. Reporting to the Director of Structural Engineering, the role requires an articulate, focused individual with highly developed technical, interpersonal, and organisational skills, focusing on commercially viable work and a high‑quality client‑focused service.

Responsibilities

  • Highly competent in building design within a consultancy engineering environment.
  • Manage resources; provide leadership, mentor, and motivate a team of Structural Engineers while interfacing with other disciplines.
  • Maintain a proven track record with Developers, Architects, and other client bodies at the pre‑planning, planning, detailed design, and construction stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Manage projects valued between £5 million and £25 million.
  • Be commercially astute and build client relationships, project‑manage, and deliver significant projects.
  • Take ownership of multiple projects ensuring financial, commercial, and contractual compliance.

Ideal candidates must have the following credentials

  • A degree (minimum 2:1) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • About 15+ years of structural design experience.
  • Significant and relevant UK buildings project design engineering experience.
  • A Chartered membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers or appropriate professional body.
