Matchtech are working with a key client to support the recruitment of a Programme Manager to work on high profile railway projects on a contract basis. This is a contract position for 6-12 month initially with hybrid working – 3 days per week in Leeds.
Role purpose
To lead the overall management, coordination and performance of the Mass Transit Programme during its development phase, ensuring all workstreams—technical, policy, planning, commercial and operational readiness—are effectively integrated and aligned to strategic objectives.
The role is responsible for driving programme cohesion across the client organisation, Programme Development Partner (PDP), and wider supply chain, ensuring the programme is well‑resourced, quality assured, and operating as a high‑performing, joined-up system.
The Programme Manager will act as a central integrator, while also maintaining the flexibility to step into hands-on leadership roles on priority or emerging activities, particularly where additional pace, clarity or direction is required to shape and form key elements of the programme
Essential
- Experience in mass transit, rail or major transport programmes
- Experience working on programmes transitioning from development to delivery
- Experience of working in client/ consultant matrix organisations
- Relevant professional accreditation
Desirable
- Experience of business case development in a UK government context
- Experience of both client side and consultancy roles
- Located in North of England
