About the Role
As a Transport Accessibility Officer you will assess applications for Blue Badges and Concessionary Travel bus passes, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent and in line with Department for Transport guidance. The role supports vulnerable residents’ independence and mobility across Brighton & Hove.
Responsibilities
- Review applications and supporting evidence to determine eligibility.
- Make clear, evidence‑based decisions that are consistent, transparent and inclusive.
- Contact applicants, carers and professionals for additional information as needed.
- Communicate decisions sensitively and adapt to individual communication needs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high‑quality, accessible service.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience assessing information and making balanced, evidence‑based decisions.
- Ability to interpret and apply guidance fairly and consistently.
- Strong communication skills with an inclusive approach.
- Organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and understanding of barriers faced by residents.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
