Role Overview
Site Security Manager at Bristol overseeing all operational security matters, achieving and maintaining HMG accreditation standards across the site, and ensuring a secure working environment for all users while building relationships with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Establish and implement procedures to protect MBDA Bristol site, workforce and classified information in line with UK legislation and company policy.
- Deliver pre‑ and post‑audit strategies to maintain MBDA UK’s Facility Security Clearance (FSC) status.
- Ensure compliance with local police and Home Office firearms licensing requirements.
- Manage a diverse team of security professionals, including contracted and MBDA staff across the Ops security and uniformed guarding team; support Information & Personnel Security teams to meet national accreditation requirements for classified IT systems and security clearances.
- Oversee the cryptographic custodian, handling, management and control of cryptographic material.
- Lead security‑focused activities to promote a positive and effective security culture.
- Design and implement measures to mitigate identified threats and risks.
- Maintain effective relationships with external parties, local law enforcement, CTSA, NADG, PSyA and neighbouring FSC organisations.
- Participate as a member of the Incident Management Steering Group and ensure security policies and training meet threats across the MBDA UK estate.
- Manage project security planning processes through positive relationships with internal stakeholders and project leads.
- Support or lead internal security investigations, conduct interviews and produce comprehensive reports.
- Deputise for the UK Operations Security Manager as and when required and represent departmental issues and needs.
Qualifications
- Experienced leader capable of managing diverse teams.
- Sound knowledge and experience of NPSA/PSyA & HMG security standards for FSC industry.
- Working knowledge of cryptographic management security regimes; high understanding of operational security measures and governance principles.
- Practical experience in major incident management; understanding of threats and risk specific to the defence industry and critical national infrastructure.
- Developed vetting clearance or ability to achieve it.
- Demonstrable presentation and communication skills.
Desirable
- Understanding of personnel & information security principles.
- Ability to build trust through relationship building, networking and influencing.
- Investigation management experience.
- Recognised qualification in security management (CSMP / ASIS CPP equivalent).
- Membership of professional security body (Security Institute / DISA / ISMI equivalent).

- Salary: Circa £62,000 depending on experience.
