Job Description:

Purpose of Position

Ensure safe, continuous and efficient running of site operations, plant equipment and all associated assets through scheduled routines.

Responsibilities

  • Administration, maintenance and continuous improvement of the SHIRE Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring all site assets, maintenance schedules, statutory inspections and engineering records are accurately maintained.
  • Oversee maintenance contracts (i.e., Air compressors, Deionised Water plant, Effluent Plant etc), including scheduling inspections with third party contractors.
  • Responsible for repair/testing and records relating to site pressure containers, associated equipment (hoses etc).
  • Supervise contractors when on site (via Permit to Work procedures).
  • Carry out fault diagnosis, corrective maintenance and minor repairs to process plant, pumps, pipework, instrumentation and associated equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Support site operators and Operations Manager with regular site safety checks and calibrations in line with routine planned maintenance.
  • Manage and monitor the effluent treatment facility within the site consent limit.
  • Handle general buildings and site maintenance.
  • Undertake any reasonable tasks or duties assigned by the appropriate line managers from time to time, provided they are within the postholder’s skills and ability.
  • Deputise for plant production personnel when required.
  • Participate in on‑call and emergency callout response by exception (e.g., customer requirement, ship cargo deliveries).
  • Lead or support capital and site improvement projects, including scope development, contractor coordination, installation, commissioning and project completion.
  • Act as Site Permit Controller, reviewing RAMS and issuing permits for maintenance, isolation, confined space entry and working at height activities.
  • Carry out and manage mechanical, electrical and process isolations in accordance with site procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Investigate equipment and process failures, undertake Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventative actions to improve plant reliability and performance.
  • Work with Site Manager to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, compliance, reliability and operational performance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in a chemical industry background on a COMAH facility.
  • Preferred experience working in a safety‑driven environment.
  • Essential experience utilising a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Note: Brenntag operates SHIRE System for the management of maintenance activities.
  • Experience in liquid process engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of key regulations such as Health and Safety at Work Act, COMAH, PUWER, LOLER, Electricity at Work and Confined Space Working.
  • HND/NVQ Equivalent – Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
