Overview
Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) safety standards, and compliance with cleanroom requirements (no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc. allowed). Working environments include Cold Room/Freezers (-22 degrees F / -6 degrees C), fluctuating temperatures, laboratory settings, loud noises from equipment, rapid flashing lights, outside weather conditions, and potential exposure to strong odors. PPE (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.) is required. Standing for full shifts, and working at heights may be involved.
Responsibilities
- Accountability for management of maintenance activities (planned and unplanned), utilising operational excellence and continuous improvement activities to improve equipment reliability and ensure minimal equipment downtime across site including manufacturing.
- SME expert for manufacturing area, making independent judgement based on expertise.
- During reactive maintenance incidents, actively using fault finding techniques, problem solving and lean manufacturing techniques to identify the true root cause of the issue; document and implement corrective actions.
- Complete all necessary documentation regarding maintenance activities, highlight errors or bad practices, and make suggestions for improvements to systems or equipment; take ownership for progressing required documentation (e.g., Change Controls, Validation documents) through to completion, in line with Company procedures.
- Utilise available resources to obtain services/components, generating, completing and obtaining the appropriate documentation and approval to proceed (e.g., Purchase Orders, spares requests, quotations).
- Maintain close working relationship and regular collaboration with internal customers to maximise improvement impact aligned with business priorities.
- Collaborate with third parties (equipment vendors, specialist contractors) to account for equipment and system obsolescence.
- Monitor, control and adjust critical spares holding as required.
- Provide justification for upgrades and improve equipment as appropriate.
- Write clear and accurate maintenance instructions.
- Drive improvements within the maintenance team to maximise efficiency within Production and Maintenance departments, Leaning processes and eliminating or reducing waste and non-value added activities.
- Ensure all activities in the manufacturing area are completed on time in line with targets and timelines (e.g., Area Shutdowns, PPM, Deviations, Change Controls, Training).
- Maintain a clean and tidy workplace in line with 5Sprinciples, maximizing efficiency.
- Coach and upskill engineering and non-engineering staff.
- Provide cover for all aspects of site support as defined within local procedures.
- Work on projects as defined by engineering management.
- Comply with GMP requirements and company rules, policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Technical / Trade Certification.
- Experienced engineer with at least 5 years industry experience with a good understanding of electrical control and automated systems.
- Proactive logical approach to problem solving utilising lean manufacturing techniques.
- Ability to work to critical timelines.
- Effective communication skills.
