Control Systems Electrical Engineer

Location: Leicester

Salary: Up to £50,000

Full-Time | Permanent

I’m working with a well-established automation business that designs and builds special purpose machinery across sectors including automotive, medical, plastics, and packaging. They’ve built a strong reputation for solving complex engineering challenges and, due to continued growth and a strong forward order book, are now looking to bring in a Control Systems Electrical Engineer to their team.

This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to get involved in a wide range of bespoke automation projects in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

The Role

You’ll play a key part in delivering control systems for machinery projects from concept through to commissioning. This includes:

  • Designing machine control systems for special purpose equipment
  • Producing electrical documentation using ePlan (schematics, panel layouts, BOMs)
  • Ensuring compliance with machinery directives and safety standards (CE marking)
  • Component selection and procurement
  • Overseeing electrical build and supporting technicians
  • Fault finding, testing, installation and commissioning
  • Supporting customers on-site (UK travel, occasional international)
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and standardisation of control systems

What They’re Looking For

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or similar
  • Experience in control systems engineering within automation machinery
  • Strong electrical design capability, including safety systems
  • Proficiency with ePlan (essential)
  • Understanding of machine safety standards and risk assessment
  • Exposure to PLC programming (Siemens, Omron, Rockwell, B&R etc.) is advantageous
  • Robotics experience (e.g. SCARA, Delta, 6-axis) would be beneficial
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong communication skills
