Job Description:

Business Development Manager

At Speedel, we’re investing in the next stage of our commercial growth and are looking for an additional Business Development Manager to join our team.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in a growing organisation, helping businesses solve complex and time-critical logistics challenges across the UK, Europe and globally.

Unlike many sales roles, you will retain ownership of customer relationships after acquisition, giving you the opportunity to build long-term partnerships, drive account growth and create lasting commercial value.

We’re looking for a commercially minded professional who enjoys developing customer relationships, influencing business growth and becoming a trusted partner to customers over the long term.

You’ll have the autonomy to shape your own pipeline, influence commercial strategy and make a visible impact on the growth of the business.

You’ll work with organisations ranging from SMEs through to larger corporate customers across sectors including aerospace, automotive, healthcare, manufacturing and professional services.

Why This Opportunity is Different

We’re not looking for someone to simply generate leads or close one-off transactions.

We’re looking for someone who wants to:

  • Build and develop long-term customer relationships
  • Retain ownership of accounts after acquisition
  • Influence commercial growth and strategy
  • Work closely with operational teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences
  • Play a key role in the growth of a scaling business

This role offers genuine autonomy, accountability and visibility within the organisation.

The Opportunity

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities across SME and corporate markets
  • Building and managing a healthy pipeline through outbound prospecting, referrals and inbound enquiries
  • Running online and face-to-face meetings with prospective customers
  • Understanding customer requirements and developing tailored logistics solutions
  • Preparing commercial proposals and supporting RFQ and tender opportunities
  • Opening new customer accounts and managing the onboarding process
  • Retaining ownership of customer relationships following account activation
  • Growing existing accounts through relationship development, upselling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Building relationships with operational, procurement and commercial stakeholders
  • Working closely with Operations to ensure customer expectations are delivered consistently
  • Maintaining accurate pipeline, opportunity and account information within CRM
  • Managing activity and performance against agreed revenue, account growth and commercial targets

This is a full-cycle, account-led role with genuine autonomy, long-term account ownership and strong earning potential.

What We’re Looking For

We’re interested in speaking with commercially driven professionals who can demonstrate:

  • Proven success in B2B business development, commercial sales or strategic account management
  • Experience working within structured RFQ, tender, procurement or commercial sales environments
  • A track record of opening new customer accounts and developing long-term customer relationships
  • Experience managing a full sales cycle from prospecting through to account growth
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to engage operational, procurement and commercial stakeholders
  • Experience preparing proposals, quotations or tender submissions
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong organisation, planning and CRM discipline

Experience within logistics, transport, facilities management, engineering services, business services, outsourced services, telecoms or similar B2B service environments would be advantageous.

A full UK driving licence is required.

What Success Looks Like

In your first 12 months, you will:

  • Build a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities
  • Open and develop profitable customer accounts
  • Grow existing customer relationships
  • Become a trusted commercial partner to customers and colleagues
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the business

What We Offer

  • £35,000 – £45,000 basic salary (DOE)
  • Car allowance (post-probation)
  • Uncapped commission with realistic OTE of £50,000 – £60,000+
  • Private healthcare
  • Hybrid working (up to 2 days per week after probation)
  • 33 days holiday including bank holidays
  • Clear ownership of your accounts and pipeline
  • Genuine progression opportunities within a growing business
  • A supportive, commercially focused environment

Why Join Speedel

This role will suit someone looking for a long-term opportunity where they can build meaningful customer relationships, contribute to business growth and develop their career as the company continues to scale.

If you’re looking for a role that combines new business development, account ownership and commercial growth, we’d love to hear from you.
