Programme Officer – Governance Team
Grade C – £35,412 – £44,075 per annum. Permanent position, 36.5 hours per week.
About Us
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our multi‑disciplinary Public Health Division as a Programme Officer in the Governance team. The Public Health team is part of the largest local authority in the country, working with one of the most globally diverse and youngest populations in Europe. The Public Health Division is leading work that contributes to Birmingham being a great city that enables people to live healthy and active lives. The Governance team is part of the Knowledge, Evidence and Governance (KEG) team and ensures that the Public Health Division complies with legal requirements regarding data and information governance and supports the strategic and operational development of Public Health’s statutory functions.
The Role
- Support the Senior Programme Officer with the strategic and operational development of the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy and the delivery of the Director of Public Health Annual Report.
- Assist the Service Lead with coordinating Health and Wellbeing Board meetings and working across the Public Health Division and with external partners.
- Monitor progress against associated strategies and identify areas for collaboration.
- Coordinate and deliver core governance functions, including Public Health governance processes, performance monitoring and risk management.
- Contribute to Population Health Impact Assessments, Information Governance and statutory responsibilities such as the Health & Wellbeing Board and the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment.
- Work collaboratively with Public Health colleagues and wider council teams to ensure compliance, effective partnership working and continuous improvement across services.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Enthusiastic individual with skills that can support understanding and addressing the city’s public health challenges.
- Background from a variety of academic and professional disciplines that can be applied to public health issues.
- Experience or knowledge of public health governance, data and information governance, performance monitoring, risk management and statutory responsibilities.
- Excellent organisational, stakeholder engagement and project coordination skills.
