Principal System Engineer

About the Role:

BAE Systems is seeking a talented and motivated Systems Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-impact programmes across defence, aerospace, and security domains. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering advanced systems that support national and global security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the full systems engineering lifecycle, from concept through to delivery and in-service support
• Capture and analyse stakeholder requirements, ensuring clear traceability throughout the project
• Develop system architectures, models, and design solutions
• Perform system integration, verification, and validation activities
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software, hardware, and mechanical engineers
• Contribute to technical reviews and ensure compliance with industry and company standards
• Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities

Skills and Experience:

• Degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
• Experience working within a systems engineering environment
• Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies (e.g. V-model, Agile)
• Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS or similar)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
• Experience in defence, aerospace, or regulated industries is desirable
