We’re seeking an innovative electrical design engineer to revolutionize critical infrastructure that powers global technological advancement. You’ll be instrumental in designing electrical systems that support Amazon’s mission of transforming how the world connects, computes, and innovates.
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain – and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Design and manage high and medium voltage substation systems across multiple geographical regions.
- Develop comprehensive electrical infrastructure designs using advanced engineering software.
- Collaborate with regional vendors, manufacturers, and utility providers to specify optimal electrical equipment.
- Create detailed construction documents and technical specifications that meet rigorous quality standards.
- Support project lifecycle from site selection through commissioning and system validation.
A Day in the Life
Your day will be a dynamic blend of technical design, collaborative problem‑solving, and strategic planning. You’ll transition seamlessly between conceptualizing electrical system designs, engaging with cross‑functional teams, and developing innovative solutions that push the boundaries of data center engineering.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with design or construction administration of a variety of electrical distribution systems ranging from low voltage to high voltage.
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Experience with EPMS/SCADA/BMS controls system software or hardware.
- Experience in project management or as a project lead including RFQ/RFP process, selecting engineering teams, developing budgets, coordinating multiple consultant teams and facilitating meetings.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
- Experience using a variety of web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
