Nursery Nurse – NICU and Transitional Care
We are seeking a Band 4 Nursery Nurse to join the NICU Team and work across the NICU and Transitional Care on the postnatal ward. The role involves providing safe, effective care to babies under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities include preparing milk feeds and specialised diets, supporting babies requiring IV therapy, hot cot, nasogastric tube feeding or phototherapy, and contributing to a child‑focused environment that encourages natural play and development.
Main duties of the job
- Provide safe and effective care to babies within the service.
- Prepare all milk feeds, including specialised diets for infants within Children’s Services.
- Maintain a safe, child‑focused environment where play occurs naturally.
- Select appropriate play activities based on knowledge of child development.
- Deliver individualised, family‑centred care to babies at risk and requiring neonatal transitional care.
- Support the ward in caring for at‑risk babies outside standard criteria where allocation allows.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- NNEB or NVQ Level 3 Child Care.
Experience
- Experience of working with infants.
- Experience of working in a neonatal setting.
- Experience of working as part of a team.
Knowledge
- Best practice in neonatal care.
- Child development principles.
- Clinical governance and risk management.
- Health and safety awareness.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Skills
- Teamworking as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computing and internet skills.

Competitive salary of £28,392 to £31,157 per annum, pro‑rata. Immigration and Visa
