Qualifications
- Higher education or significant experience in Electronics, Electrical, Physics, EMC or similar.
- Experience with FEM, FIT, or similar simulation solvers.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and knowledge of electronic technologies.
- Experience with SPICE simulation tools.
- Ability to work to defined deadlines and within budget limits.
- Desirable: EM simulation solvers such as CST Studio or ANSYS HFSS.
- Verification and validation (V&V) experience of numerical solvers.
- Experience in a defence context.
- Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience in any package.
- Good understanding of Radiation Effects, EMC, or EMC design.
- Previous experience supporting EMC work; training provided if lacking.
- Experience in electronic design, development and delivery.
- Knowledge of applying military EMC standards (e.g., Defence Standard 59‑114/59‑411, AECTP500, Mil‑Std‑461, RTCA DO160, EUROCAE ED‑14).
Responsibilities
As part of the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Radiation Effects (RE) department, you will work in both a hands‑on test team and a project team embedded across MBDA projects. Your role will include:
- Developing EMC requirements, test planning, and design guidance.
- Conducting electromagnetic modelling and simulation, including V&V processes.
- Writing Environmental Requirement Specifications (ERS) and related documentation.
- Reviewing hardware and performing investigative testing.
- Collaborating with EMC project engineers and providing risk‑reduction and qualification strategies.
- Ensuring products enter service efficiently while maintaining required assurance levels.
Salary and Working Hours
Salary: Up to £57,000, depending on experience and grade.
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2–3 days per week on site at the selected location.
Security Clearance
UK Security or BPSS clearance is required for all roles.
