Overview
We are seeking an experienced PowerServer Engineer to support audit, investigation, and strategic planning activities for our existing PowerBuilder and PowerServer applications. You will join us in London on a hybrid basis, working 60% in the office and 40% remotely, on a contract running until 30/11/2026. We are looking for someone who can assess our current systems, identify gaps, and provide actionable recommendations for optimization, modernization, or migration. The role includes delivering a system audit report, risk and gap analysis, recommendations for improvement, and a strategic roadmap and execution plan.
Salary
Salary: £60,000 – £90,000 per year
Requirements
- Strong experience with PowerBuilder and PowerServer
- Proven experience in application auditing, system analysis, or consulting roles
- Solid understanding of client-server and web-based architectures
- Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
- Ability to analyze legacy systems and recommend modernization approaches
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Experience with application migration (on-prem to cloud or web) is preferred
- Familiarity with Appeon PowerServer is preferred
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is preferred
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards is preferred
- Prior consulting or advisory experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive audits and assessments of existing PowerServer and PowerBuilder applications
- Conduct root cause analysis and investigate performance, stability, and scalability issues
- Analyze application architecture, deployment setup, and integration workflows
- Identify technical risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
- Prepare detailed assessment reports, findings, and recommendations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define modernization or migration strategy
- Create roadmaps and implementation plans for future upgrades or enhancements
- Provide guidance on best practices, security, and performance optimization
- Support decision-making through technical insights and feasibility analysis
