Job Summary
You will ensure the company’s Environmental, Health & Safety procedures and policies comply with relevant legislation such as HASWA and Environmental permitting. You will offer guidance and advice to the company on EH&S matters in a professional and efficient manner. Additionally, you will implement actions and improvements to improve the company’s EH&S compliance.
Responsibilities
- Review and implement the Company’s Global and Local Environmental, Health & Safety Policies and procedures.
- Update and write procedures for the company where necessary.
- Perform Environmental, Health & Safety training including writing, reviewing, revising and delivering materials to continued compliance.
- Produce and disseminate EH&S updates and metrics to internal stakeholders.
- Support the arrangements relating to employee consultation of the Environmental, Health and Safety committees for the Hampshire facilities.
- Engage employees in environmental promotions such as celebrating Earth Day or awards.
- Offer suitable guidance on Environmental, Health & Safety issues that meets current and foreseen legislation.
- Perform risk assessment or impact and aspect assessment for processes and practices that the Company undertakes.
- Guide and support the Utilities team on such items as electricity use, water, effluent, and promote the 3 R’s in waste streams.
- Liaise with external authorities and bodies as required.
Education & Experience
We are looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in environment, or health and safety. A manufacturing, pharmaceutical or laboratory safety background would be advantageous.
- ISEP associate or higher.
- Minimum NEBOSH Certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent in Environmental sciences.
- Expected to perform CPD and attend relevant training / seminars as required.
- Confident in presenting and training employees on EHS related matters.
- Ability to read and understand highly technical material.
Travel & Location
The role covers CooperVision facilities within the UK; based at the Vision Centre and responsible for R&D, Global and Commercial groups. From Nov 2027, approximately 40% of the role will support other UK sites. All sites are based in the Hampshire area. Must hold full driver’s license as multi‑site work is required.
