Overview

A vacancy has arisen within our Maritime Cranes department based in Biggleswade for a Technical Advisor. The role covers the UK and Ireland and contributes to the success of Liebherr – Great Britain Ltd by ensuring effective and efficient advice, support, and excellent administrative, customer service and interpersonal skills.

Your Responsibilities

  • Visit sites to investigate technical problems and communicate with customers, factories and LGB accordingly to provide a technically led solution.
  • Assist the Technical Manager with customer complaints in relation to invoice disputes.
  • Provide a dedicated support line for customers and use this to develop outstanding rapport and relationships.
  • Circulate information and investigation details via written reports.
  • Obtain suitable solutions from Liebherr factories on technical issues and warranty claims.
  • Raise warranty orders, sales orders, work orders, purchase requests and invoices both internally and to customers.
  • Process warranty claims and ensure that returned warranty parts are sent back to the relevant factory with correct documentation.
  • Support the hands‑on element of operations by undertaking out‑of‑hours responses as and when required.
  • Assist in managing service engineers and optimising their utilisation.
  • Promote all aspects of the After Sales Department.
  • Prepare parts and service quotations.
  • Develop an effective working relationship with the after‑sales team and support others where required.
  • Escalate the appropriate action in relation to broken or damaged company equipment.
  • Use the operating system (BAAN) to manage sales orders, warranty orders, purchase orders, check stock availability and price spare parts.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports and feedback for every investigation, including customer reports where required.
  • Pro‑actively seek new opportunities to develop personal skills and look for opportunities in the role to apply these.
  • Take the initiative to liaise with the various support Liebherr factories as required.
  • Undertake all work in accordance with the company’s Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies. Prepare risk assessments, method statements and implement safe systems of work as necessary.
  • Undertake training as required by the company from time to time, both at the workplace and off site, including overseas.
  • Represent the division at meetings and exhibitions as required.

Your Profile

  • Sound knowledge of modern plant electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Excellent understanding of control systems and IT‑based diagnostics.
  • Good communication at all levels.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively in a pressurised environment.
