Overview

You will be working at the interface between physical and psychological health, bringing your knowledge and expertise to general hospital colleagues. You will undertake specialist and timely mental‑health assessments and treatment for patients attending the General Hospital, supporting a wide range of problems including self‑harm, adjustment to illness, and physical and psychological co‑morbidities. The team also provides assessments and support to people over 18 following a recent merger with the Older Persons Liaison Team.

Responsibilities

  • Work flexible hours to support delivery of 24‑7 services and be able to operate on a shift pattern that includes nights.
  • Provide person‑centred assessment and a timely care plan in acute settings such as The Haven, the General Hospital, or patients’ homes.
  • Support and collaborate with the Urgent Care Pathway teams, including the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team and The Haven.
  • Foster excellent relationships with patients, carers, general hospital colleagues, and other parts of the health and social care system.
  • Work autonomously while contributing to the overall team and manage pressure calmly in rapidly changing circumstances.

Qualifications

  • Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983/2007.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, including FACE documentation, DOLS and Best Interest decisions.
  • Child and Adult safeguarding procedures.
  • Evidence of organising and prioritising workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance care through evidence‑based knowledge.
  • Professional development relevant to the specific care group; registered Nurse with current registration (mental health/LD/Adult) appropriate to the role.
  • Completion of a Mentorship Course or ENB equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • UK professional registration required.
  • Successful candidates are normally appointed to the bottom of the pay scale unless previous NHS experience in a similar role is proven.
