Network Security Engineer – British Steel

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain firewall architectures across the enterprise network.
• Configure and troubleshoot VPN, routing, and switching components to ensure secure, reliable connectivity.
• Develop and enforce security policies, access controls, and threat detection mechanisms.
• Monitor firewall logs, perform incident response, and conduct vulnerability assessments.
• Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to integrate security controls into new deployments.

Requirements

• Proven experience with enterprise firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA).
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and VPN technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with security policy creation, log analysis, and incident response.
• Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash) for automation and reporting.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
