Job Description:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Electronics Engineering Team Lead to join a leading defence engineering organisation within its growing Calibration & Maintenance department. This role will lead a team responsible for the calibration, maintenance and repair of electronic test and measurement equipment, ensuring compliance, equipment availability and operational excellence across multiple engineering laboratories.

This role is responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians carrying out calibration and maintenance activities on commercial off-the-shelf test equipment. Reporting into senior engineering management, the successful candidate will oversee workload planning, compliance activities, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement initiatives whilst ensuring laboratory equipment remains fully operational and audit compliant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of calibration engineers and technicians
  • Manage calibration, maintenance and repair activities for electronic test and measurement equipment
  • Ensure compliance with relevant calibration standards, processes and procedures
  • Coordinate calibration schedules and workload priorities across multiple laboratories
  • Support and lead internal and external audits
  • Maintain calibration records and documentation to ensure traceability and compliance
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure equipment availability and minimise downtime
  • Drive continuous improvement activities within calibration and maintenance operations
  • Support the use of both manual and automated calibration processes, including calibration software tools
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers and service providers where required

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Experience using Fluke METCAL calibration software
  • Working knowledge of SAP and/or JIRA
  • Experience within a defence, aerospace, manufacturing or highly regulated engineering environment
  • Knowledge of automated calibration systems and processes
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives within engineering teams

The ideal candidate must have:

  • HNC/HND qualification or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience managing engineers and/or technicians
  • Strong technical knowledge of electronic test and measurement equipment
  • A solid understanding of calibration principles, controls and measurement techniques
  • Experience leading audits and maintaining compliance to recognised standards
  • Demonstrable stakeholder management and workload planning experience
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and leadership skills
  • Experience supporting the maintenance, calibration or repair of electronic instrumentation and equipment
