About IberoDocs
IberoDocs – Scotland’s Ibero-American Documentary Film Festival – is a non-competitive, annual festival that celebrates the diverse cultures of Latin America, Spain, and Portugal through creative documentary films. As the first showcase for Ibero-American culture in Scotland, we focus on films that amplify underrepresented voices and explore themes such as identity, memory, community, and belonging.
Led by a team largely composed of immigrants, IberoDocs reflects the many stages of the immigrant experience. We are a Creative Scotland Multi-Year Funded organisation and are deeply committed to the principles of Fair Work First, ensuring fair pay, equality, and a supportive environment for all our collaborators.
The Role
We are seeking an exceptional Marketing & Communications Manager to join our team for the 2026 edition. This integral role within our small and dedicated team offers the opportunity to lead a creative marketing approach that helps IberoDocs—Scotland’s first showcase for Ibero-American culture—continue to reach and connect with diverse audiences across the country.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and imaginative individual with a high level of accuracy and a passion for Ibero-American cinema. You will be comfortable working autonomously while also being a committed team player, ensuring our programme reaches the broadest possible audience.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy and Planning
- Create and implement a comprehensive strategic marketing plan to boost the profile of the festival, its individual events, and the year-round programme across all marketing and communications channels.
- Manage the marketing and advertising budget in collaboration with the IberoDocs Director.
- Implementation & Content
- Lead the creation and distribution of the festival brochure and other marketing collateral in collaboration with the Graphic Designer.
- Coordinate print and digital advertising with media partners.
- Manage all IberoDocs social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn), ensuring regular updates and engaging, consistent, and responsive content to maximise reach and impact.
- Manage the monthly newsletter and develop campaign schedules for both the festival and year-round programme.
- Work with the Website Designer to ensure that all online information is accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate photographic and video documentation of the festival alongside the Digital Producer.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure the festival is well networked and maintains a high local and international profile, including creating targeted mail-outs, maintaining a partner database, and maximising cross-promotional opportunities.
- Support stakeholder communications and coordinate invitations to festival events.
- During the festival campaign, create press releases, liaise with press and media, facilitate content, and respond to media enquiries or emerging communications issues.
- Ensure all communication materials meet best-practice accessibility standards, including the provision of Closed Captions (CC) and British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation.
- Attend and support events as required, particularly during the festival period (16–26 September).
- Analysis and Evaluation
- Analyse and report on website and social media analytics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns.
- Compile detailed marketing reports, including press coverage and statistical data, to meet funder reporting requirements.
- Ensure accurate information is collected and reported to the Audience Agency as part of our Creative Scotland Multi-Year Funding obligations.
- Contribute to the annual report and any additional reporting as required.
- General Responsibilities
- Provide flexible support to the wider team, including attending regular team and individual meetings.
- Establish clear lines of communication and information flow for the Director and team members, providing regular updates and maintaining organised files in shared locations using designated software.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Director.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience in a busy marketing role, ideally within a film festival or arts environment.
- Passion for documentary films or Ibero-American culture (Spanish, Portuguese, or Latin American) and their ability to create meaningful and inspiring experiences.
- Strong copywriting and proofreading skills in fluent English; Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable. Excellent attention to detail is essential.
- Proven experience managing social media platforms and creating visually appealing content (e.g., using Canva).
- Understanding of PR and experience coordinating media relations, developing partnerships, and maintaining effective relationships with media partners and venues.
- Experience coordinating and distributing print marketing materials.
- Experience managing effective advertising campaigns, including collaborations with media partners.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines while handling unexpected situations.
- Flexible and collaborative, thriving as an enthusiastic team player while also being able to work independently and manage personal priorities.
Fee and Contract Details
- Duration: 6 months, starting mid-May 2026.
- Festival Dates: 16–20 September (Edinburgh) and 24–26 September (Tour Scotland).
- Availability: Flexibility is essential. Increased availability will be required during the lead-up to and delivery of the festival and tour, particularly in August and September.
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible. The contracted period may be extended subject to funding. The role allows for remote and flexible working around other commitments; however, regular meetings will be required both remotely and in person. The successful candidate will also be required to be in Edinburgh in the lead-up to and during the festival dates.
It is important to be comfortable with the fluctuating demands of a festival environment, where periods of intense activity (such as the festival launch and delivery) are balanced with quieter times. While it will not be possible to work a fixed number of days each week, we are happy to discuss working patterns at interview and on an ongoing basis. Our intention is for this post to become year-round, subject to funding.
