Position Summary

The Senior Makerspace Manager is responsible for leading Cresconova Labs‘ makerspace programming, educational experiences, and curriculum development while directly managing the Makerspace Manager. This role combines educational leadership, Design Thinking, Systems Thinking, curriculum creation, teaching, and makerspace oversight to deliver innovative multidisciplinary learning experiences for students ages 5–13.

The successful candidate will be an experienced educator who is equally comfortable teaching students, developing curriculum, mentoring staff, and supporting the growth of a dynamic makerspace environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educational Programming & Teaching
  • Teach classes, workshops, camps, and studio programs for students ages 5–18.
  • Design and facilitate project-based learning experiences rooted in Design Thinking and Systems Thinking.
  • Develop multidisciplinary courses integrating STEM, arts, creative writing, storytelling, entrepreneurship, humanities, and fabrication.
  • Create low-floor, high-ceiling learning experiences that engage diverse learners.
  • Mentor students through inquiry, prototyping, experimentation, and iterative design processes.
  • Support learners in developing creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Curriculum Development
  • Design original curricula, project guides, learning resources, and educational materials.
  • Develop new course offerings aligned with the Cresconova Labs Framework.
  • Prototype and refine educational experiences based on student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with leadership to expand Cresconova’s educational programming.

Makerspace Leadership

  • Directly manage and support the Makerspace Manager.
  • Ensure strong alignment between educational programming and makerspace operations.
  • Collaborate on equipment integration, fabrication experiences, and hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Support operational planning, safety procedures, and studio organization.
  • Contribute to long-term makerspace growth and innovation initiatives.

Collaboration & Community

  • Work closely with the Chief Creative Officer and leadership team.
  • Support family engagement events, showcases, open houses, and community programs.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and creative learning environment.
  • Contribute to the continuous growth and improvement of Cresconova Labs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with children ages 5–18
  • Bachelors degree in related field of engineering, fabrication, arts or education
  • Masters preferred in related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching project-based and inquiry-based learning.
  • Significant curriculum design experience.
  • Experience with Design Thinking methodologies.
  • Experience in makerspaces, innovation labs, STEM education, museums, or experiential learning environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing staff or leading teams preferred.
  • Familiarity with digital fabrication technologies, engineering, robotics, coding, and maker education is highly desirable.
