We are partnering with an international banking institution seeking to appoint an experienced Head of Business to lead and develop its Corporate and Trade Banking Business in London.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially driven banking professional with a proven track record in corporate banking, trade finance and transaction banking. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, enhancing client relationships, developing strategic initiatives and leading a high‑performing team focused on serving corporates engaged in international trade and cross‑border business activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the branch’s business strategy, aligning commercial objectives with broader organisational goals.
- Lead the growth of the Corporate and Trade Banking franchise, identifying new market opportunities, trade corridors and client segments.
- Build and maintain relationships with large corporate clients, delivering tailored financing and transaction banking solutions.
- Drive revenue generation across trade finance, working capital, cash management, foreign exchange and related banking products.
- Oversee the origination, structuring and execution of trade finance facilities, including letters of credit, guarantees, supply chain finance and receivables finance solutions.
- Provide leadership, direction and mentorship to relationship managers and business development professionals.
- Ensure effective collaboration with Credit, Risk, Compliance, Treasury and Operations functions to deliver seamless client service and maintain robust governance standards.
- Monitor portfolio performance, profitability and risk metrics, ensuring sustainable and disciplined business growth.
- Represent the bank externally with clients, professional networks, industry associations and key stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive experience within Corporate Banking, Trade Finance, Transaction Banking or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable track record of originating and managing complex corporate relationships and delivering sustainable revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of trade finance products, working capital solutions and cross‑border banking services.
- Proven leadership experience, including the management and development of high-performing teams.
- Strong credit and risk management capabilities, with experience structuring and presenting credit proposals.
- Excellent relationship management, communication and negotiation skills.
- Sound understanding of regulatory requirements, governance frameworks and AML/KYC obligations.
- Experience within an international banking environment is highly desirable.
