Heavy Plant Engineer – Concrete Pumps / Heavy Plant
Location: Bicester, Oxfordshire
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + paid overtime at time and a half
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm
£40k–£50k, Monday to Friday, overtime paid at 1.5x — a proper hands-on plant role with specialist concrete pump equipment, not repetitive fleet servicing.
Workshop-based in Bicester with occasional site support, working for a long-established family-run business with a strong name in the concrete equipment market.
About the role
This is a practical engineering role working on concrete pumps, truck-mounted plant, static pumps and associated heavy equipment.
Most of the work is based from the Bicester workshop, covering diagnostics, servicing, repairs, inspections and preparation of equipment before delivery or dispatch. There will also be occasional customer site visits for breakdowns or technical support.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and repair heavy plant equipment, including concrete pumps
- Carry out servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance
- Work across hydraulic, mechanical and basic electrical systems
- Prepare equipment before delivery, dispatch or customer use
- Attend occasional customer site breakdowns
- Complete service records and job documentation
- Work safely and support the wider workshop engineering team
Requirements
- Experience with heavy plant, construction equipment, hydraulics, agricultural machinery, HGVs, powered access or similar
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Good understanding of hydraulic systems
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Full UK driving licence
- Reliable, practical and safety-focused approach
Desirable / nice-to-have background
- Concrete pump experience
- Truck-mounted plant or static plant experience
- Mobile plant engineer, plant fitter, mechanical fitter, hydraulic engineer or service engineer background
- Experience supporting customer site breakdowns
