A Snapshot of Your Day As an Operations Engineer, you will play acrucial role in the 24/7 monitoring, operation, and control of Siemens Energycustomer and project assets from our Newcastle Remote Operations Control Centre(ROCC). You will support both established operations and the onboarding offuture Grid Technologies and Gas Services projects, enabling renewableintegration and system stability as our portfolio expands. Your work willinvolve operating and supporting a diverse range of technologies, includingHVDC systems, STATCOM/SVC, synchronous condensers, Battery Energy StorageSystems (BESS), and Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) power plants. How You’ll Make an Impact Continuously monitor andcontrol ROCC-managed assets, including shutdown/start-up, responding to alarms,and coordinating daily operations. Support safe and reliableoperations across Grid Technology and Gas Services assets, ensuring performancealigns with contractual and commercial requirements. Ensure compliance with Health,Safety, and Environmental standards, performing all work in line withapplicable codes and Siemens Energy requirements. Maintain asset availability byadhering to O&M procedures and engineering protocols. Execute shutdown and start-upprocedures efficiently, ensuring safe and effective operations. Utilize technical documentationand computerized systems for shift logs, fault notifications, and work orders. Liaise with customers andexternal parties to coordinate operating instructions and system needs. Submit REMIT, EDL, EDIL &EDT information to ensure compliance with legislative governance. Support the safe integration ofnew projects into the ROCC, including operational readiness and continuousimprovement of control room practices. Assist in Root Cause Analysis(RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for operational events. Deputise for the SeniorOperations Engineer in their absence. What You Bring Preferably educated to aminimum HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline. Strong understanding ofoperational engineering principles in power generation and/or transmission. Experience or strong interestin energy transition technologies, including HVDC, STATCOM/SVC, synchronouscondensers, BESS, and OCGT. Health & Safetyqualification (IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent) with a commitment to safe workingpractices. Practical engineering knowledgewith the ability to apply processes for safe and reliable operation. Self-motivated with the abilityto prioritise during time-critical operational events. Strong problem-solving skillsand a solution-driven mindset. Good oral, written, andinterpersonal skills for clear communication of operational information. Proficient in developing andadhering to Safe Systems of Work.
