Job Overview
The post holder will work alongside the Band 7 CNS team, supporting patients referred to the London Sarcoma Service. The role involves participating in multidisciplinary meetings (MDT), supporting patients and their families from referral through diagnosis and treatment, and ensuring continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in MDTs, present cases, and advocate for patients.
- Support in the CNS Run Telephone Biopsy Clinic, informing patients of MDT decisions and performing needle biopsies and clinical assessments.
- Complete Holistic Needs Assessments (HNA) for patients.
- Visit patients on the ward for post‑surgery support.
- Provide clear communication to patients and families via telephone, email or text.
- Communicate with hospital and external professionals.
- Ensure investigations are carried out as per MDT orders.
- Deliver direct patient care, role‑modeling, supervision and education of peers.
- Fulfil clinical responsibilities within a competency framework for Advanced Practice.
- Administer medications, including Denosumab.
- Provide specialist advice and training to health‑care professionals on sarcoma management.
- Manage a designated caseload efficiently and prioritise clinical workload.
- Handle complex and sensitive information compassionately.
- Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive documentation.
- Offer spontaneous and planned advice to patients, relatives and multidisciplinary team members.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years post‑registration experience in orthopaedics or oncology.
- First degree or currently on a degree pathway.
- Teaching and assessment qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with patients receiving cancer treatments.
- Completed, or in progress, appropriate UK professional registration.
- Acceptance of a Disclosure and Barring Service check for vulnerability role.
