This is the most strategic commercial finance role in the team. You’ll be the finance partner to ATG’s Digital leadership team and the product and data organization, sitting at the intersection of product strategy, marketplace economics, and financial performance.
Your job is to connect what the product team builds to the financial outcomes it creates. When a product experiment improves conversion by 50 basis points, you’re the person who translates that into incremental revenue, validates it against actuals, and helps the business decide where to invest next. When the team is evaluating whether to prioritize search improvements or shipping expansion, you bring the financial lens that turns a product debate into an investment decision.
You’ll also oversee a Commercial Finance Analyst who covers A&A commercial performance, giving you a small team that spans the full A&A growth story — from product investment decisions through to commercial execution and revenue delivery.
This role requires someone who is as comfortable with Amplitude experiment data and product metrics as they are with a P&L. If you’ve only ever worked in traditional finance, this probably isn’t the right fit. If you’ve worked at the intersection of product, data, and finance in a technology or marketplace business, this is exactly what we’re looking for.
Given the nature of the role, we are also looking for someone who will be open to some flexibility in their working hours to accommodate and support collaboration across our US market.
What Sets This Role Apart
This isn’t a traditional FP&A role with a product label attached. You’ll be embedded in ATG’s product and data ecosystem, working with experiment data, marketplace dynamics, and buyer/seller economics every day. The closest analogy is a “product finance” or “strategic finance” role at a high-growth marketplace — but with the stability and complexity of a listed company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Product & Digital Finance Partnering
- Act as the primary finance partner to the Digital leadership team, providing financial insight and challenge on product investment decisions, resource allocation, and strategic priorities.
- Own the product investment ROI framework: track the portfolio of product experiments from hypothesis through test results to financial materialization. Not every experiment needs a business case — but every experiment needs a measurable outcome. Build the bridge between Amplitude experiment data and the P&L.
- Partner on performance marketing effectiveness: evaluate spend efficiency, CAC trends, and return on marketing investment across A&A channels.
- Support capital allocation decisions for the digital and product portfolio, providing the financial analysis that informs where to invest, scale, or stop.
A&A Growth Oversight
- Potential to manage the Commercial Finance Analyst covering A&A commercial performance, ensuring financial insight covers the full value chain from product development through to commercial execution and revenue delivery.
- Monitor and report on A&A growth initiatives: LiveAuctioneers shipping rollout, Chairish auction integration, cross-listing expansion, and pricing changes.
- Build and maintain the A&A segment financial model, connecting marketplace health KPIs (items sold, ALV, take rate) to revenue and margin outcomes.
Insight & Reporting
- Contribute the digital and product sections of the monthly Executive and Board reporting, with clear narrative on what’s working, what’s not, and what to do about it.
- Partner with the Director of BI & Reporting to ensure product and financial data is integrated in the KPI dashboards and marketplace health framework.
- Use AI tools (Claude, TextQL) as daily working tools for analysis, scenario modelling, and first-draft commentary.
Skills and Experience
- Qualified accountant (CPA, CIMA, ACA, ACCA) or equivalent commercial finance experience.
- 5–10 years of experience in commercial finance, with at least 2–3 years partnering product, digital, or technology teams in a marketplace, e-commerce, or technology business.
- Demonstrable experience connecting product or operational metrics to financial outcomes — not just reporting numbers but explaining what drives them.
- Comfortable with product analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar) and data platforms. You don’t need to write SQL, but you need to understand what data is available and how to use it.
- Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to build investment cases, scenario models, and ROI frameworks.
- People management experience or clear readiness — you’ll have a direct report from day one.
- Excellent communication skills. You’ll be partnering with a CDO and presenting to the executive team. You need to hold your own in strategic conversations, not just deliver.
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI and modern finance tools. We want someone who is already experimenting with AI in their work, not waiting to be told.
